Frenectomy
A frenectomy is a minor surgical procedure in which the frenum (the tissue which connects the tongue to the floor of the mouth or the inside of the lips to the gums) is altered or removed.
For some patients, a frenum can interfere with tongue or lip movement while in other cases the frenum can make braces uncomfortable. If you find that your braces are irritating the frenum or the frenum is interfering with normal movement, Dr. Pylant can perform a frenectomy to resolve these issues and restore your comfort and confidence. If your dentist is recommending a frenectomy or if you have questions about the procedure, call our office today to schedule an appointment with Dr. George Pylant.
